Ste. Ann de Detroit: The oldest church of Detroit dates as far back as the city itself, founded in 1701, two days after the city of Detroit was formed! The church of Ste. Ann is a witness to, and participant in many of Detroit's landmark events, like the founding of the University of Michigan, the publication of The Observer - Detroit's first newspaper, among others. A must visit is the chapel, which houses the old wooden altar.

Saint Joseph Roman Catholic Church: Founded in 1855, this is a German Catholic parish church that acts as one of the major landmarks of the area. Located at 1828 Jay Street, this church was designed by Francis G Himpler and is renowned for its beautiful Victorian gothic architecture with distinguished stained glass, woodwork, high stone altar, and intricate design. This church has found its much deserved place in the National Historic Museum.

Old Saint Mary's Church: Founded in 1885, this church and parish was founded by German immigrants and remains one of the oldest continually serviced churches of Detroit. The church resembles old age Roman architecture with high central arches and richly decorated pillars. The colorful stained glass windows in this church are fascinating.
