Foremost winter clothes is a must, body warmers, jackets, inners, boots, caps, thick socks and all that you can think to beat the cold. Build yourself an emergency kit, and make sure you carry it along whenever you travel for any sightseeing etc. Try and book a hotel which is centrally heated.

It's recommended to carry lots of dry food and snacks, and it becomes all more important if you have children along. Carrying a portable food warmer will be very helpful indeed. And if possible try and have a travelling insurance.
