Detroit Children's Museum is one of the oldest children's museums in America. It was founded in 1917 and was about to be foreclose if the Detroit Science Center didn't step in. It was formerly run by the Detroit Public Schools until recently it became a part of the Detroit Science Center.

The museum is located at 6134 Second Avenue and is open 7 days a week. They are open at 9am until 5pm from Monday to Friday and open at 10am and closes at 6pm on weekends.

With over 100,000 exhibits to show the museum is one of Detroit's hidden treasures. The museum's 200 hands-on exhibits are the most popular exhibits to most of the children which have visited the place. The hands-on exhibits are classified into 3 different classes the space, life and physical.
Some of the things they can explore at the space exhibit is the Rocket Laboratory or they could try the Solar System Distance Scale were they can work on position the planet to the correct scale distance from the sun. Or explore the Life exhibit which values the fitness and nutrition of people. They have the Step into Heart Health which shows how our heart works.
While exploring the Physical exhibits lets you learn more of the manufacturing process. They have the Mini Mac Bridge and Lumenarium which shows different waves and vibration exhibits.
