Detroit Zoo is opened to the public through the year except Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's Day, so you can visit the zoo on whichever day of the 362 days left. Following is the specific Zoo hours information:

November 1 - March 31: opened from 10 am to 4 pm

April 1 - Labor Day: opened from 9 am to 5 pm (on Wednesdays in July and August, the zoo is opened until 8 pm)

Day after Labor Day - October 31: opened from 10 am to 5 pm

When it comes to featured facilities, rides and attractions inside, the operating hours may vary. You should remember clearly to avoid any possible wait time.

Belle Isle Nature Zoo is opened from 10 am to 5 pm every day year round except Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's Day. In order to avoid peak time, school groups and nearby communities are encouraged to explore BINZ on weekdays.

3D/4D theater is a great highlight in Detroit Zoo as it is the only and the first theater of its kind in Michigan zoos. Here you can have a totally different experience of viewing with 3D technique and get to scream with full-sensory 4D effects. Wilde Adventure Ride offers visitors a thrilling and action-packed ride equipped with special theater seats. Just sitting there, you are moving with the seats, given a unique educational-fun mix. The Tauber Family Railroad serves a large number of passengers every year and now it has been a great favorite in Detroit Zoo. Visitors would like to take a train ride through the zoo in the clean and comfortable coaches. The ride is available daily from May to September, and weekends in October.

Giraffe Encounter provides feeding opportunities for children visitors. Please note that only 50 persons are allowed to feed during each feeding session. Giraffe Encounter is operated twice a day from Tuesday through Sunday in September and on weekends in October. It is opened as normal on the first Monday after Labor Day.
