Founded in 1934 it served as a place and an organization where discussions on important social, economic, government and business issues take place. It has a highly diversified member list spanning both genders, all races, religions bringing together the best minds and the finest points of view.

This year there is an illustrious assembly of speakers from the printing industry to chemical to dotcom. In the month of August we have Ursula Burns, CEO, Xerox Corporation taking stage followed by Clarence Cazalot Jr, CEO, Marathon Oil Corporation so on and so forth.

Detroit Economic Club ensures that college and high school students get an opportunity to mesh and engage with prevalent business and political issues. The Educational outreach program also enables students to attend DEC meetings, ask queries and questions to business, economic and political leaders.

One must become a member of DEC to participate in its meetings, events, discussions and programs. Detroit Economic Club has varied levels of memberships that serve different purposes and have comparatively better advantages than basic ones. There are 5 different levels of memberships such as - Sustaining, regular, associate, non-resident, junior executive memberships. For DEC members meeting rates are $45 while for non members it is $75.
Sustaining membership rate is pegged at $350 while a Junior Executive level is at $75 annually but reserved for individuals below the age of 36.
